‘Special’ is the new single from Toronto-based dream-pop five-piece Tallies. The band are known for their ability to juxtapose light and dark, which is a theme they’ve continued on their latest release. Here, reverb-soaked, jangly guitar lines and punchy drums are contrasted by the poetic, shadowy lyrics of Sarah Cogan. She explains that this one is “about longing to be seen and heard by those who matter to you most. Sometimes feeling invisible is particularly painful when the indifference comes from someone whose opinion means a lot to you."
